Aluminium 2014 hex bars are composed primarily of aluminium with a small addition of copper (approximately 3.9-5.0%) and lesser amounts of iron, manganese, silicon, and zinc. This alloy exhibits excellent machinability, high strength, and good wear resistance due to its copper content, making it suitable for high-performance applications such as aerospace components. Mechanical properties include a tensile strength of around 400-470 MPa, yield strength of approximately 300-370 MPa, and elongation of up to 8-10%. Its hardness typically ranges between 95-115 Brinell.
