Aluminium 7050 square bars are crafted from a high-strength aluminium–zinc–magnesium–copper alloy, typically containing around 5.7–6.7% Zn, 1.9–2.6% Mg, and 2.0–2.6% Cu. This unique blend results in impressive tensile strength, often reaching up to 510 MPa in peak tempers, along with superior fracture toughness and strong fatigue resistance. With a density of about 2.83 g/cm³, they offer a great strength-to-weight ratio. The alloy remains dimensionally stable under heavy cyclic loading and provides good machinability for precision components. While corrosion resistance is moderate, it can be significantly enhanced with anodizing or protective coatings, especially for marine or exposed applications.
